A Most Critical Failure

The Tale of 5 young adventurers, cast together by fate, and a few online game tables....

Letter 1: By Silale

Dear Mother, Father and Thia,

I hope this owl finds you all well. Is the forest still unchanged? I was wondering when would be a convenient time for me to come and visit again. I am still traveling with Balasar and no Father; he does not try to rip my flesh from my bones. Dragonborn are not like they are in the stories. Despite his questionable allegiances to his personal deity, Balasar is a loyal friend.

We did as you had suggested and attempted to join the Seven-Shield. Thia, you’ll be pleased to know that the shield spell you taught me, helped to impress the superiors immensely. Balasar had performed admirably as well. However we both felt that the Seven Shield was not our best option at this point.

Balasar and I have decided to journey with a lively group in hopes of discovering the secrets of the world. Fragment and McBrune: two Tiefling brothers, formidable with the magiks and blade respectively. Balasar seems to get along with them. Another was with them, an Eladrin, Avenar, reminds me of our cousin Erevan. He is very dark and difficult to talk to sometimes. You’d think our common heritage would give us oceans to talk about, but all he seems to want to do, is brood about wizarding or arcane stuff. I’m not sure.

My training is going well enough. We’ve encountered a large horde of goblins and kobolds yesterday. Father, you would be proud. I swung your Morningstar with all my might and I managed to slay a few of the foul beasts (even while closing my eyes!). I very much dislike this fighting. I pray to Corellon every day in hopes that I will return soon. Will you please talk to the elders again? I understand about the destiny and all but why can’t I just train in the temple for the rest of my life?

Please write back soon. I miss you all terribly.

Your Son and Brother,
Silale

P.S. Please send another bottle of salve. My knees have been bothering me again and I do not wish to slow my new companions down. Thank you.
